Hallie Is a 14-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi who has been extremely active and energetic her entire life. She was diagnosed slightly over a year ago with degenerative myelopathy, an irreversible, ultimately fatal neuromuscular disorder which is not uncommon in Corgis and certain other breeds. Since that time our goal has been to slow the progression of her nerve loss and to enable her to maintain a high quality of life for as long as possible.
From birth, our beautiful yellow lab suffered from hip problems. Over the years, he learned to compensate and was very happy living on our 3 acre place, swimming, running & digging up many of my flowers. At 12, he progressed and was medicated with the typical treatments available. When those medications could no longer help him, we were facing a very tough decisions.
We were three-time Aqua Dog customers and highly recommend their services and their expert, compassionate personnel to any dog owner who will listen to us.
I’m not entirely sure how my Rich and I heard of Aqua Dog after Milo’s first surgery in 2007 for a complete ACL tear in his back left leg. It wasn’t from our vet, who did the surgery. But being dog people and DINKs with no college funds to worry about depleting- and because both of us had had knee surgeries, we understood how important post-operative therapy could be, even for a dog.
Ross and Mia are my brother/sister duo who worked hard in their youth as herding dogs. In order to maintain their activity and comfort after retirement, I began taking them for weekly treadmill sessions which have kept them in overall wonderful condition.
Petra and the staff at Aqua Dog have helped to keep my Welsh Springer, Maddie, up and running as she hit age ten and onward. They patiently rehabbed her from an injury so that she could complete her MACH3 and MXJ just before her tenth birthday! Not only that, at the same time she earned Highest Scoring dog in obedience at the Welsh Springer National Specialty, placed in her class in Veterans Sweepstakes in conformation, and earned her Working Dog title from the Welsh Springer Club.
We wanted to thank you and your folks for all you did for him over the past 10 months. I truly believe he enjoyed coming to Aqua Dog and I know he always walked better after one of your sessions. On weeks that we missed a session he was always a little weaker.
